C4 Simultaneous Engineering

A simultaneous engineering method for the development of process chains in micro manufacturing

The manufacturing of micro components was characterized by a complex interplay of material, process and control parameters. Slight changes to single operations can have a drastic impact on the manufacturing costs and qualities of the overall process chain. Consequently, the subproject C4  developed a method for the planning and configuration of micro process chains, that enabled an integrated process and production planning by the use of so called cause-effect networks. The continuation of the project focused on the development of methods for (semi-)automatic generation of process chains based on workpiece features.
