Flexible Manufacture of Tribologically Optimized Micro Forming Tools

Aim of this project was the development of methods for the provision of capable and wear resistant micro forming tools, which considerably surpass the actual state of the art. The work program comprised the extension of analytical process models to wear characteristics. These models allowed deriving optimized input parameters for the manufacture of tribologically optimized micro forming tools by using the method of non-linear inverse problems. The micro manufacturing was extended to new materials, i.e. tungsten-carbide, as well as the analysis of the impact of the micro milling process on the sub-surface properties of the workpiece.
